Reasons to choose SloGro
We don't over fertilise lawns. This is bad practice for many reasons;
- Nitrogen fertilisers leach readily into the water table and are a major cause of pollution in our rivers and waterways leading to algae and suffocating water pollution.
- A typical good quality domestic lawn only needs one to two fertiliser treatments a year with the current technology of slow release fertilisers that are available. More than this would be unnecessary, wasteful and environmentally expensive (both to produce and as a leached pollutant).
- Excess use of nitrogen fertilisers, though producing lush growth actually weakens the grass, creating poor root structure and excessive top growth which it's roots cannot support, leading to the eventual collapse of the lawn health. This can often be seen in the decline of a lawn treated with too much fertiliser over a period of 4 or more years.
Our method of lawn management is a more sensible approach because;
- It encourages a stronger root and surface shoot structure without the excessive top growth - our treatments incorporate an up to the minute slow release fertiliser, which releases nutrients at a rate the plants can use while not leading to excess loss through leaching like other treatments do.
- With the SloGro system, the growth is kept to a manageable level throughout the season instead of either the spikes of growth that you normally get with conventional treatments or seasonal growth alone that makes normal maintenance difficult at best.
- The lawn builds in strength over the period of treatment (as many years as you like), instead of weakening and becoming over reliant on the high dosages of nitrogen fertilisers of more orthodox treatments.
At SloGro, we believe in providing a complete service. We will always remove any waste arising from our mechanical work such as Hollow tine Aeration and scarification as part of the job.
